Welcome to the Digistamps4Joy Blog Hop to celebrate WORLD CARDMAKING DAY,

This is my beautiful city in spring time with the flowering Jacaranda trees.

Here is the card I am showcasing for the hop, and I used "Mommy's girl".
I coloured it in with watercolour pencils and OMS, and drew in a savanna scene behind them. The paper behind the sentiment (a gold rub-on) is a piece of handmade paper with rhino dung in it! My reason for choosing this digistamp is because I love rhinos, and am appalled at the massacre currently being carried out in my own country, and I hope I can raise awareness though my card. Here are some facts from the Save the Rhino website....
- South Africa is home to 83% of Africa’s rhinos and 73% of all wild rhinos worldwide and is an incredibly important country for rhino conservation. However rhino poaching has reached a crisis point, and if the killing continues at this rate, we could see rhino deaths overtaking births in 2016-2018, meaning rhinos could go extinct in the very near future!
- The figure for 2013 currently stands at 688 rhinos that have been poached in South Africa, which works out to almost 2 per day! The current poaching crisis is attributed to the growing demand for rhino horn in Asian countries, mainly China and Vietnam, where horn is believed to have medicinal properties.
Each blog in the hop is offering a prize of ONE digistamp, and each DT member has made a card with this digi to showcase the prize. The main DS4J blog is offering a fantastic prize of $30 worth of digistamps from the DS4J store.
The PRIZE on this Blog is the digistamp "Mommy's girl"

ReplyDeleteMargy, love your post and that card is gorgeous. A really great choice to showcase what is happening to our beautiful Rhinos. Well done. hugs, Ursula
ReplyDeleteOh Margy, this card is stunning. I just love that gorgeous background that you drew in...any chance on that getting made into a digital? I too fear for the fate of the rhino and all of the other animals on this planet as humans seem to be intent on eradicating them. Your rhino image is such an incredible tribute so such noble animals...and I have to ask...wherever did you get paper with rhino dung in it? Hugs ~ Charlene
ReplyDeleteMargy your card is a work of art, and thank you so much for the hard work you do for us girls, not just the hop but always, you are the best, and I love being part of such a lovely family

I truly hope your card raises some awareness. my dad used to say, "you never now how much you will miss something until it's gone. let's hope it does not come to that. Fabulous card. And BTW, I adore Jacaranda's, my all time fave tree. Can't grow them here, but we see them in Cyprus in May, what wonderful colour. Jackie xx
ReplyDeleteLet me first say Margy...your picture of the city is amazing!! Also I had no idea that Rhino's were being slaughtered so much!! That is just pure evil..they are so cute..and this should not happen to ANY animal!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway...I love your card..so sweet!!

That's a great card for raising awareness. So sad that they would be close to extinction!!!
ReplyDeleteCan I plant that Jaracanda tree on my lawn? Is it huge? The flowers look so amazing; I wonder how it looks like up close? Must be so pretty. I don't understand why some nerds kill rhinos just because. They never attack people unless they are being disturbed. These people are killing the ecology system and destroying the planet. I am proud to see your work to raise awareness; good cause indeed, congrats. I am enjoying this hop Margy, thank you so much for all the effort and hard work you do for us all.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Asmah

Hi Margy, I love this Rhino digi they are such a big beautiful animal. You colored them so beautifully. Hugs, Antoinette
ReplyDeleteHello Margy, what a beautiful part of the world you live in. My youngest son loves Rhinoceros since he was a little boy, he is nearly 21. When we took him to his first fun fair and spent all day asking for a handle, we worked out it was a Rhino and he walked around holding its tusk which was the handle according to him. I love your card so beautiful, crafty hugs Julie x
