You are Special

There is a new artist on CDAC called The Clipart Fairy and she has the most amazing digistamps! This card is for her first challenge, using a stamp she provided called "Alfie". My first thought was, urgh I don't really want to colour in the large frame in case I streak the colours. My second thought was I could use paper to cover it, and my third thought was ... a SHAKER card. I love making shaker cards but haven't made one in a while so I enjoyed making this card up. Alfie's head was cut out and glued behind the frame, which was then glued onto the clear acetate. I made a box at the back of the frame with foam strips, and added the blue micro beads. Alfie's feet and hands were cut out of a separate image, coloured with Copics (E000 and E021) and raised with foam tabs onto the frame. The wording is a rub-on I found in my stash.

4 Cards

Phew, I managed to find some time, sit down with no interruptions, and finish 4 cards for CDAC Challenges this week! I mean, it's nearly the end of June already, where has this year gone? Before we know it, we will all be making our Christmas cards and buying presents!!! Ok, back to the present - a cold wintery morning - here are the four cards.
 1. Sparkler-girl mage from Guylou Inimitibility for the Girly Challenge.

2. Masked lady image from Digistamps4Joy for the Embellishment Challenge.

 3. Mushroom image from Just Inklined for the Sketch Challenge.

KonTiki Raft Challenge

I have so many Girl Guide photos and it's time I put them together into a scrapbook album! Here is the first set taken at the annual Scout Kontiki Raft Challenge in 1999.  The details of the weekend can be read in the journalling, and details of some of the knots used on the raft are also shown. Hope you enjoy the story as much as we enjoyed the weekend!

Just for You

This card was made for the colour challenge #25 at CDAC. The colours to be used were rose pink, lime green, white, sky blue, and yellow, and the digistamp was provided by Paper Fashions Etc.

I used a pink floral cardstock as the card base, and added striped and floral matching paper with brown distressed edges. The tag and scroll were cut with the SLICE Vintage Findings card, distressed, and glittered up. I printed 2 images out, coloured both with watercolour pencils, then paper-pieced the flowers and the ribbon. The lace border on the left was cut with a border punch and a piece of lace with ribbon glued on top. Flat pearls, glitter glue, and silk flowers complete the picture.

Crochet time!

I took some much needed leave and went up to the north of South Africa to visit my sister, and we spent most of our time doing sewing, machine embroidery, and crocheting! When last did you do some crochet work? I can't even remember, but it was great to pick it up again. We both sat crocheting the same style jacket, and I made mine from about 120g of pink variegated wool with a fine silver thread in it. I used an enormous crochet hook (size 10) and crocheted double trebles, so the end result is this gorgeous 'holy' jacket. It was so easy and quick to work up, that we went and bought more wool to make a second one up in a different colour! It actually looks much better on my body than in this flat photo, but you get the general idea.
