John 15:4

I made this easel card for the CDAC Colour Challenge #24, using the digi provided and the two colours of green and purple - always one of my favourite combos. The digi was coloured in with pencils, the colours smoothed with a wet paintbrush, and the whole image cut out with a Nestabilities shape. The paper, ribbon, lace, and flowers are all out of the stash.The Bible verse just seemd to pop into my head when I made this card, so added it.

Flissy fairy

This is a card I made with a free digi from the CDAC colour challenge #23 with which we had to make an orange and green card. The digi was coloured in with pastel gel pens, and all the leaves were punched out of 3 shades of green tissue paper. If I breathed too hard, all the loose leaves blew off the table! The rest of the paper is out of the stash, and I added clear glitter glue.

Mirror, mirror

My daughter took the most amazing photo of her son, and we made up a scrapbook page last Saturday. We kept it very simple, but I think it's this simplicity that just makes the photo POP! I used black and limegreen cardstock, silver holographic wrapping paper, a corner punch, and my new SLICE machine for the lettering. And that's all! Apologies for the slight glare on the silver paper, but I was unable to find any angle without it shining!

Daddy's boy

Wow, it felt like my arms were cut off while blogger was down! Amazing how one gets so used to always having technology available. Anyway, what I wanted to show you was another scrapbook page I made, this time of a stunning photo of my son-in-law and grandson, at my grandson's first day of school this year. The proverb goes ... "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is so true here! I used the following:
Paper: Fabscraps ('blue diamond') as the background; Paper Explosion (Queen of Hearts); and lots of other bits from my stash.
Gold ribbon
Gold felt tip pen to outline the photo
Slice die (Noteworthy) to cut the letters
Clear rubber stamp for the swirl (sorry can't remember name).
Brown chalk to distress all edges.

Cupcake Party scrap

I made a double scrapbook page of my eldest grand daughter's 7th birthday. It was an unusual party with only 5 close friends invited because ........ they were BAKING cupcakes!!!! I made each girl a pretty cotton apron that they could take home, and then the fun began. The brothers who came with however decided that they did not want to be left out, so we also had 5 little boys baking! My daughter had measured out the ingredients before the time, and collected enough empty tuna tins so each child could bake their own little cupcake. After the cupcakes were baked and had cooled down, the icing fun began! I also entered the layout into the current Let's Scrap challenge. Here is the 'record' of the day.

Then and Now

The next challenge (#95) at Let's Scrap was to make a page/s showing photos form 'then' and 'now'. Aha!! I remember I had this photo of my mother as a telephonist in Den Haag in 1950, with headphones on and an enormous phone book in front of her. This is the 'then' photo. For the 'now' photo I caught my own granddaughter playing with my cellphone! And voila ... a then and now story! Such fun. I wanted to capture the essence of the heydays with pastel pink and olive green, and as my granddaughter is wearing a pink jacket, it fitted in very well with the colour scheme. Wonder where we will be technology-wise when my granddaughter has children?

Tradition scrapping

I've been doing a little scrapbooking for a change, and decided to try one of the weekly challenges at Let's Scrap. Challenge #94 was to scrap a 'tradition', and use one of the Let's Scrap sketches. This is the first time - believe it or not! - that I have used sketch for a scrapbook layout, and goodness knows why I didn't try this before! I have had a tradition since 1980 of setting up the nativity set I made, before the Christmas tree is decorated, and I have been doing this now for 31 years! In fact, the grandchildren are now setting it up around my tree. So, here's my family tradition. I used this lovely star background paper, then some super matching Christmas paper from a set I bought.
